Not Your Mother's Dyeables

Dyeable satin shoes have a come a longgggg way from what I remember them being a decade ago--or even just a few years ago. Actually, they've come a long way since just last year!

Gone are the days of the boring, characterless satin dyeable shoe (think Coloriffics (which also have come a long way!)).

Today, top designers like Kate Spade, Stu Weitzman and Giuseppe Zanotti have gotten in on the special occasions/dyeable market and have really expanded the options and upped the style for brides looking for the perfect shoe in the perfect color.

Even David's Bridal is carrying a much more flavorful selection of dyeable wedding day shoes. Check out their collection here
One of my favorite web sites to browse dyeables is My Glass Slipper.

Here are a few I thought were drop dead gorgeous!
Enjoy!

Kate Spade Clarice

Martinez Valero Zenith (ok so I'm cheating because this shoe is avail in white and ivory but isn't dyeable...it was just too purty to exclude..)

Hot: Feathers

I know.
Think feathers on shoes and you might just get that vision: the cheap, shiny, pvc "stripper" mule!
But don't fear, the market for feathers on feet has expanded and is much more tasteful:)
From J.Crew to Christian Louboutin feathers are embellishing some of the seasons' hottest sandals and pumps. I can't help but imagine how very hot a pair of any of these would be beneath a wedding gown!
Enjoy!

ShopStyle.com

I'm sure some of you are aware of this GREAT web site but I decided to share just in case...

Similar to Like.com, Shop Style is exactly what its name suggests: it allows you to easily shop for the exact style of whatever you are looking for. It is a visual search and I love it because it searches SO MANY different web stores--ones I have never heard of before that have the cutest items!

How it works: You simply type in what you are looking for and it will pull up (normally) pages of results.

Here are a few searches I did to give an example:

"Yellow pumps" (19 pages):

"Yellow dress" (48 pages)

"Yellow Tie" (21 pages)

"Fuchsia Pumps" (10 pages)

Have fun!!

Forgive me for...

My continued posting of Forever 21 pumps, but my recent trip to the three-level mega Forever in NYC (around 34th shopping district) has me a believer that the store's shoes are...ok! Certainly for a one-time wear (think your wedding). I even tried on a few pairs of heels while there and they were....kind of...comfy! Not bad at all for the price! Before visiting the NYC store which has its own 'shoe section' I was like most of us--used to seeing a few random shoes here and there placed around the stores. Hard to take seriously.

But THESE are pretty SERIOUS on style and price! Enjoy!

Shoes---Check!!

Woot-woot girls!!
The shoes have arrived and they could not be more perfect. The 7.5 fits fine--and even became more comfy from the 15 minutes I walked around the house in them tonight!!
Perfect.

Honestly...these shoes are so gorgeous...these photos do them MAJOR injustice:)

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

Can I tell you how much I love TheKnot.com?
Actually--no--can I say how much I love certain incredibly resourceful Knotties?
So....as you know, I have had a VERY difficult time finding the perfect pair of shoes.

Well, today, fabulous Knottie KarlandJoni told me about a great deal on Bloomingdales.com where the fuschia Stuart Weitzman peep-toes I have been obsessing over were on a super-duper sale.
I mean a sale like marked down from $360 to less than $150!
My fiance-imposed shoe budget was $200...so before this sale I had no hopes of getting this shoe.
The catch is (always a catch) I am a size eight and the shoe I ordered (all that was left) is a size seven and a half.
But it IS a peep-toe, which in my experience, usually work better a bit smaller anyway (because your toes tend to slide forward and away from the shoe backing).
Also, the Knottie who directed me to the sale said she actually tried this gawgeous shoe on IN PERSON and in her regular size, it was too big--to the point it came off her foot when she walked.
Soooo, my odds look good for this one ladies!
And now, my lucky, lucky eye candy!

The Shoes that Could Have Been...

Sorry for my lack of enthusiasm in writing about this.
But I am not happy, because the crazy, ridiculous, pink and purple satin shoes I was counting on were too big and they have been sent back.
And now, I am still without shoes.
So here you go. The long awaited pics of the shoe, on its way back to the UK.

The Big Shoe Reveal...

No worries fabulous ladies!
I WILL show the shoes.  Promise.
That would be really shady not to, as someone wisely pointed out, after all the 'Shoe Saga' drama!
The only thing is that...ummm.... the drama is not over, and there is a weird and annoying back story currently developing since I have ordered the shoes.
All I will say is that so far it involves me, my mom, and the United Kingdom.
Yes, weird indeed.

Never Mind all that Pimping Business...

I found shoes!
No further text at this time.

Pimp my Shoes?

OK girls!
I've been on a binge for the past two weeks.
An Ebay binge!
It started the day I decided I may have to get creative to be happy with what I choose as wedding day shoes.
It is no surprise that I have not yet found thee perfect pair of fuschia shoes...
So, I realize I may have to take matters into my own hands somewhat to up the flair factor of the pair of shoes that come closest to being THEE ones!

Now, if I decide to do this, let it be known this is no original idea. I'll be following in the fabulous footsteps of a few other brides who took things into their own hands--by puchasing cute shoes and making them much cuter via dye and bling.
Blingy clip earrings or small brooches are good candidates for shoe-makeovers.
And what better place to search than Ebay! Well, needless to say I got very carried away.
My purchases are still arriving in the mail daily, but here's what arrived today.
Warning: images of me playing dress-up with some of said bling to follow:

I love playing dress-up!
All of the shoe bling options together:

Yeah, all of that in one day...sad. But the good thing is that they are all vintage earrings purchased for as low as 99 cents to a max of about $8.99. They are all beautiful and much better-made than today's costume jewelry.

So...this is what I have in mind. To pimp my shoes, I would simply add a pair of bling to whichever shoes I end up with. Kind of like Knottie Vintage Glam did here (she also had hers dyed orange):

And how Knottie ilovemycoastie did here:

To be honest, I would rather just be able to find shoes that are perfect as they are and would rather not spend time doing this. But time's a tickin'...and I need shoes!

Another Pink Pump

If you don't follow, please see the shoe sagas:
Part I: What A Girl Wants
Part II: What A Girl Needs
Part III: The $15 Shoe Risk
Part IV: The $15 shoes arrives

The Tyrie Fuschia Satin shoes from Moda in Pelle--apparently a UK brand not readily ship-able to the United States, at least not through Amazon.    The brand's web site will ship to the U.S.--but for a shipping fee of 59 pounds!!!  Which of course is probably about $100 given the weak dollar.  (They only charge 4.95 pounds for shipping in UK mainland).... *sigh*
The shoe is 70 pounds...which again, is about double that when converted to dollars.  Not bad, until you add on the shipping!

Looks like the shoe saga will be continuing...

Shoe Saga Part IV: The $15 Shoe

The shoes came today.
You know, the ones that I thought would be so cheap (because they cost $15) but were the perfect color?
Well, I must say I am pleasantly surprised.  These shoes are incredibly comfy and honestly, are well made.  The only thing I am not feeling is the patent leather, glossy look.
Now, to be clear, I like the shoes and I will definitely be wearing them this summer!
I'm just not sure if I'm feeling them to go with my wedding gown--but as fiance is quick to point out, it is just one day I'd be wearing them...I had fiance take some photos of me in the shoes...
I cannot believe I am about to post many photos of my ugly, rough, nail polish-less, un-manicured winter feet (dogs)...but here goes!

Fiance says he likes them--but of course, I don't know if that is genuine or if he's saying that because he KNOWS my alternative pair cost a couple hundred dollars (which he would be helping pay)!

So ladies pleasssse tell me what you think of these shoes and help me decide.
Will these shoes work or do I go for the much-much-much more pricey J.Crews (thanks Sarah!!:

Or Weitzmans:

I don't mind purchasing a pair at a higher price-point if it's WORTH it.
So...Honestly?
